Good morning all. I want to raise awareness of an event related to FOSS.
Today (3rd Saturday of September, 2026-09-19) is Software Freedom Day (SFD). It celebrates Free and Open Source Software worldwide, and is organized by the Digital Freedom Foundation.
Sadly, I don’t see Hong Kong on the map of events.
It would be awesome if the HK open source community is more proactive in promoting and raising awareness of the concept of ‘Four Freedoms’ in free software.
A virtual / remote event would be a low-cost way to start. I only just learnt about this event so perhaps it’s too late to do anything his year… This Discourse topic can serve as a starting point for discussing possible ideas for next year’s SDF though! I’m happy to help organize.
Anyway, hope everyone has a nice weekend and Happy SFD!
